Gary Sheppard
President, Sheppard Hale & Associates, Inc.Gary Sheppard brings almost 30 years and more than $6,000,000,000 of real estate leasing, sales and development experience to the team he leads at Sheppard Hale & Associates, Inc. As President of Sheppard Hale, Mr. Sheppard has been responsible for directing all facets of corporate real estate acquisition and leasing programs, consulting for Banks and serving as lead director for the disposition, maintenance or development of more than $50 million of REO properties as well as the development of more than 2,500 residential units in four states. Additionally he is acting as a consultant in the development of two Medical Malls and more than 400 student housing units.
Prior to founding Sheppard Hale, Mr. Sheppard was a founding partner of ABS Partners Real Estate, LLC, a real full service real estate concern headquartered in New York City. At ABS, Gary created an in house leasing team that controlled more than 5 million square feet of commercial and industrial properties in the New York metropolitan area. Prior to founding ABS, Mr. Sheppard was the director of leasing and sales at Helmsley Spear, Inc. in New York where he consistently distinguished himself as one of the top commercial brokers in New York City.
Mr. Sheppard began his career in 1982, under the guidance of Harry Helmsley, one of the titans of the real estate industry. Rising to the position of Vice president in two years, it was here that Mr. Sheppard served until 1989. Mr. Sheppard continued his career at Cushman & Wakefield where he pioneered the concept of out-sourcing of corporate real estate services to a single provider. In this capacity as a Tenant Representative, he was successful in expanding Prudential Securities Northeast lease hold portfolio of 61 offices by 10% while reducing their expenses by more than 20%. This concept helped Mr. Sheppard expand his national real estate experience by engaging in development, sales and leasing assignments in more than 25 cities across the United States.
Recruited by Dan Galbreath of Columbus, Ohio, Gary became the Managing Director of National Accounts for The Galbreath Company in 1991. Here Mr. Sheppard expanded his national real estate experience by handling such high profile mergers as Thompson McKinnon and Prudential Securities. In this assignment alone, Mr. Sheppard merged more than 75 offices across the United States in six months. He was also involved in the Development of the SunBank Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a 17 Story office tower and the 20 Story, mixed use Esperante Center in West Palm Beach. He also expanded Galbreath’s Tenant Representative division to include multiple Fortune 500 companies. After five years with Galbreath, The Helmsley Organization asked Mr. Sheppard to return and offered him the position of Senior Vice President where he directed the management and leasing of more than 4 million square feet of commercial space and more than 100 real estate agents.
Mr. Sheppard’s extensive real estate background includes real estate consulting, office building management, asset management, commercial leasing agencies, tenant representation as well as development of commercial and residential towers and residential planned communities.
Mr. Sheppard attended John Hopkins University where he majored in Biomedical Engineering.
